Kim was a scholar athlete for all four years and captain of the basketball team for 3 years.

She is nineteenth in the state with three pointers for a season, twenty fourth in the state for career three pointers, twentieth in the state for career free throws, three point percentage in a season with 44% placing her at twenty sixth, and consecutive free throws made placing her at twenty second.
After high school graduation, Kim attended Ashland University where she graduated in 2000 with at Bachelors of Science Degree in Education (English Major). During her college years she was a four year letter winner on the softball team. She was a member of the AU softball team with the best record for a season in 1998 with a 51-4 record.
