Jody Getz
Jody Getz

Jody Getz was born and raised in Loudonville, Ohio, to parents Dean and Marilyn Beans and is the sister to three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Loudonville High School in 1984.

Jody has always been surrounded by sports enthusiastic people and was actively involved in athletics at a young age due to her parents’ encouragement and support. Loudonville began forming girls’ youth softball teams in the summers when she was young, so she played on town teams and traveling softball teams. She played many hours of pick-up basketball games either at the school or on her backyard court while growing up.

In 1980-81, Jody was a freshman and a starting center for the Loudonville Redbird Varsity Volleyball team, starting guard for the Varsity Basketball team, and starting shortstop for the first school-sponsored LHS Varsity Softball team.

As a sophomore in 1981-82, Jody was a setter for the Redbirds as they earned State Runners-Up in the OHSAA tournament. She received Honorable Mention awards in all three sports in the Mid-Ohio Conference.

In her junior year, the volleyball team made another trip to the State Tournament. She made Mid-Ohio Conference First Team in all three sports that year.

In her junior year in 1983-84, Jody was the setter for the volleyball team and though they lost in the regional final game that year, she received First Team All-State. In basketball, she ended her career with 1,125 points. She earned First Team MOC in all three sports. She received the Class of 1984 Jack Augustine Scholar/Athlete Award.

After graduating from Loudonville High School, she attended the University of Akron and graduated with a bachelor’s degree teaching Special Education. She took a teaching position at the CE Budd School in Loudonville and is currently finishing her twentieth year. Over the years,
she has coached junior high volleyball, junior varsity volleyball, and high school track.

She married John Getz in 2003, and they are currently busy raising their four year old son, Quinton.
